Interviewers

Hiring

Colorado Springs provides one of the most experienced and educated talent pool for interviewers.  The Colorado Springs metro area ranks fourth in the nation with a high school diploma.  Moreover, Colorado Springs is quickly becoming one of the nation’s largest centers for high-quality data collection facilities.  Many of our interviewers have several years of previous interviewing experience. Interviewers are recruited through local colleges, classified ads, and referral. Prospective employees undergo an intensive application and interviewing process.  Interviewers must sign a confidentiality agreement upon employment.

Training

All interviewers undergo an intensive training program before conducting live interviews.  The training includes a thorough overview of survey research methodology, techniques to reduce bias, proper probing skills, refusal conversion, and software training.  Training programs include both classroom training and on-the-phone time with intensive monitoring and feedback.  Interviewers receive constant training, including several hours of training prior to each project (customized to the specific objectives of each project).  Interviewer skills are continually refined through feedback from monitors, floor supervisors and ongoing professional development programs.

Supervision

Floor supervisors receive additional training and must have a record of superior interviewing skills.  Many supervisors have college or post-graduate degrees.  Since projects are conducted in small project-centered rooms, supervisors are constantly interacting with individual interviewers.  Most projects have a minimum of one supervisor for every eight interviewers.  Supervisors constantly monitor interviewer performance using standard monitoring forms and tools.
